The History of Limestone – For thousands of years, man has used limestone as a primary building material.  Monuments such as the pyramids, Sphinx and the Parthenon, are all made primarily of limestone and offer proof to the longevity and majesty of this unique stone.

However, in the early 1800s Portland cement was invented and replaced limestone because it was cheaper and more readily available.  With the shutting down of many quarries, limestone became more difficult to find and more expensive to acquire. Today, the demand for limestone is at an all-time high as a much sought-after building material signifying strength and elegance for both residential and commercial construction.
